Preseason conditioning
With (hopefully 🤞) six weeks until the start of the ski season, we should all be well into our final conditioning prep to be strong and ready to ski.
If you’re not, it’s not too late! Here are some ideas from Coach Alby Dean of the Palisades Tahoe Masters Program to get you moving and ready for the upcoming season. As always, these are only recommendations and you should consult with a medical professional before embarking on any new conditioning program to make sure it’s right for you.
Any conditioning you do will benefit your skiing this season. Do as much or as little as you want, your call.
PT Revolution is a new Physical Therapy clinic in Truckee near the airport. They offer a 1:4 ratio in their Mountain Fit classes 4 times a week. Monthly commitment gives you 2 classes per week. You can try it out 2 times for FREE. Geared for the local athlete in town.
Train Smarter, Ski Better is a series of youtube videos from former US Ski Team athlete Hilary McCloy that PSIA put out. Minimal equipment needed and you can always adjust for your level at the moment. Remember: Be Successfully Challenged!
Skier’s Core Routine features Andy Newell, retired US Cross Country athlete. The routine focuses more on linear strength for nordic racing, but you can always add some rotational components to make it more “alpine” specific.
