The U.S. Ski Team donates race suits to the Far West Masters Scholarship Program. These are new suits that were never used by the team and retail for about $1,700. The program raises money by selling them for $500 to Masters racers and to athletes who are not in the scholarship program. Sponsored scholarship athletes pay $100, so they have “a little ski in the game.” In special situations, the program also helps an athlete who needs a suit but is not in the program.
Annabeth Au, a second-year U14 racer with Team Palisades Tahoe, is one of those athletes. She wrote to thank the program for her USA speedsuit: “I truly appreciate your support!”
This year’s scholarship recipients will be announced later in November.
