Chairman’s Message: Ready, Set,…

As we enter the "meaty" portion of the Far West Masters ski season, so enters Mother Nature as well. We are grateful for the impending snow, but timing is everything as is said.

There will be a significant number of races in our division in the next five weeks, including the Masters National Championships, March 23rd–28. There are no race qualifications to be in this event, but you must have a current USSS license. And, please sign up as early as possible so the resort can have a good idea of the number of participants and prepare accordingly. Mammoth has been planning a great series of races and social events for us. I urge you to sign up and participate!

Speaking of events, Friday, February 27, will bring us two SG races at Northstar. More details will soon be announced. Friday, March 6 will feature two slalom races (4 runs) at Alpine Meadows, followed by an awards party in the lodge, upstairs over the bar. Saturday, March 7, will be a GS race on "Julia's" run at the bottom of the mountain at Palisades, followed by a BBQ on the Member's deck, and a full membership meeting, and awards presentation. Please attend and bring your questions, comments, and concerns for the "Board." Sunday will feature another GS on the same trail with awards as soon as possible after the race. And, Diamond Peak will feature a slalom each day, March 14–15. An award party will be held after the race Saturday at Alibi Ale Works in Incline.

Yes, this should be an eventful few weeks ahead! I look forward to seeing all of you out there!
