FWM Scholarship Athlete Dylan Schemenauer Wins Race Place Catalog Cover Contest

Far West Masters Scholarship Program athlete Dylan Schemenauer has been selected as the winner of The Race Place's 2025-2026 Catalog Front Cover Photo Contest, earning a $3,000 award and the honor of being featured on the cover of this season's catalog.

Dylan's ski racing journey stands out for its unconventional path. Unlike many racers, Dylan didn't start until the second year of U16. In just three years, she progressed from learning the basics of gate training to competing at the FIS level against some of the country's top athletes.

Off the hill, Dylan graduated early from TMCC magnet school with a 4.57 GPA, earning an Honors Diploma and completing 33 college credits. She's also a certified Emergency Medical Responder and a student pilot working toward her Private Pilot License. Her goal is to ski for one of the U.S. military academies.

Email Update from Scholarship Recipient Max Cooper

April 15, 2025

Dear Eddie / Far West Masters:

Thank you all for your support this season. It was invaluable to me. I’m very proud to be a FWM scholarship recipient. First year FIS was challenging with a lot of time on the road and trying to manage school as well. I feel like I persevered during this time despite the challenges. I also had an unexpected hiccup and fractured my foot during U18 Nationals in Aspen. I was out for five weeks, and I just got cleared on 4/9 to resume normal activities. So, it could have been worse. Some of my FIS/U18 ski race achievements for the 2024-20245 season include the following:

  • U18 Nationals Aspen 2 Run Downhill (2/27) – 15th (9th place in second run)

  • U18 Far West U18 boys slalom ranking for U18 Nationals selection  – 6th

  • Bryce Astle Memorial FIS SG #1 (2/12) – 17th overall, 6th U18

  • Bryce Astle Memorial FIS SG #2 – 20th overall, 8th U18

  • Bryce Astle Memorial Snowbird FIS Slalom #1 (2/11): 25th overall, 3rd U18

  • Kimberly Nor-Am Super G (2/9) – 33rd

  • Kimberly Nor-Am Downhill (2/5) – 34th

  • Schweitzer FIS Super G #2 (1/30) – 7th overall, 6th   for U18

  • Schweitzer FIS Super G #2 (1/30) – Hard charger (moved from bib 55 to place 7)

  • Schweitzer FIS DH #1 (1/29) – 12th overall, 9th for U18

  • Schweitzer FIS DH #1 (1/29) – Hard charger (moved from bib 56 to place 12)

  • Schweitzer FIS DH #2 (1/29) – 13th overall, 9th for U18

  • Nevada High School GS Champ (2/19) – 1st

Overall, I’m happy with my speed results this season and my slalom results. I had hoped to lower my points for slalom and giant slalom in the spring races, but I was unable to due to my foot. So, I am hoping to get some early starts next year to get those tech points down!

Thanks again for your support,

Max
