How to Join
Masters Ski Racing provides the perfect combination of sport, adrenaline and spandex! We welcome racers of all levels over the age of 18 - from beginners who are just getting started all the way up to former Olympians, and everyone in between.
Competitors must have a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Master membership for the current season in order to compete, or a Short-Term Alpine Master membership purchased on a daily basis for one event. Proof of primary medical insurance coverage is required to obtain a U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitor membership. Competitors who race more than one event per season must also join Far West Masters, find more detailed instructions below.

What do I need to do?
Whether you are a new or returning member, there are two steps to signing up to race with Far West Masters each season. Please review these instructions and make sure you complete both steps.
Racing with Far West Masters requires BOTH a Far West Masters Membership and a US Ski & Snowboard Alpine Master membership. Membership in the Far West Masters is only required if you race more than one weekend in the season, allowing new racers to “try it out”.
Both memberships should be renewed in the fall each year to ensure you don’t miss any deadlines and avoid price increases.
Your FWM membership dues supports organizing our division race calendar and provides you with a permanent race bib for all our Far West masters races.
Race registration typically opens in November each year, you will receive an email once races are published.

Which membership type should I select?
Most masters should select the "Alpine Master" membership type.
Only select the "Alpine Master w/ requirements" membership type if you are required to have SafeSport training and background checks due to your engagement with junior athletes through a US Ski & Snowboard club role. This license is required for some training programs (including drop-in training), such as Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose where masters athletes may interact with junior teams.
If you plan on attending any FIS races this year - FIS Masters Cup (Beaver Creek Western Region Championships), Masters Criterium, etc. you should add a Masters FIS license to your US Alpine Master membership.
Most masters should select "No Club Affiliation" for the US Ski & Snowboard club affiliation. Do NOT select the club at the area where you ski and train unless you are actually a member - the clubs are generally associated only with junior alpine competitor programs.
At the end of the renewal or new member process, you will be asked to e-sign a release of liability.
You will need to provide proof of primary medical insurance coverage to purchase a U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership, so have your insurance card with carrier and policy number ready.
Your Far West Masters membership is in addition to your US Ski & Snowboard Alpine Master membership.
